New Hampshire Sports Betting: August Figures and Year-to-Date Overview

In August, sports betting in New Hampshire recorded a handle of $38.8 million, showcasing a decline of 10.6% compared to the same month in 2023, yet a 5.2% increase from July 2024’s expenditure of $36.9 million. Of this, $34.8 million was spent on online platforms provided by DraftKings, while $4.0 million was spent at retail sportsbooks within the state. DraftKings holds the exclusive rights to offer online sports betting through the New Hampshire Lottery since November 2019.

However, the gross gaming revenue witnessed a decrease both year-on-year and month-on-month. August’s revenue amounted to $3.4 million, marking a 19.1% decrease from the $4.2 million reported in the same period last year and a 2.9% dip from July’s revenue of $3.5 million. Online betting contributed significantly to revenue, accounting for $3.1 million, while retail sportsbooks contributed $270,235.

In terms of tax revenue, New Hampshire collected $1.5 million from sports betting tax in August.

When looking at the year-to-date performance, consumer spending during the first two months of the 2024 financial year totaled $75.7 million. This reflects a 12.3% decline compared to the same period in the previous year. The majority of the spending occurred online, amounting to $68.2 million, while $7.5 million was spent at retail locations.

In terms of revenue, a total of $6.9 million was generated during these two months, indicating a 20.7% drop from the revenue generated during the same period last year. Online sports betting contributed significantly to this total, accounting for $6.2 million, while retail wagering contributed $669,879. Tax revenues for these two months amounted to $3.0 million.
