The Virginia Lottery has published its monthly report on gaming activity for Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Temporary Bristol and Rivers Casino Portsmouth for April. Virginia’s casino gaming revenue for the month amounted to $35.4 million, with slots contributing $25.1 million and table games bringing in $10.2 million.
Hard Rock Casino Bristol’s Strong Performance
Hard Rock Casino Bristol reported total revenue of $14.04 million, showcasing a slight increase from the $13.8 million generated in March. Of this revenue, $11.29 million was attributed to slots, and $2.75 million came from table games. The Virginia Lottery Board granted the casino license for Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol in April 2022, with the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Temporary Bristol opening to the public on July 8, 2022.
Rivers Casino Portsmouth’s Contribution
Rivers Casino Portsmouth recorded revenue of $21.33 million for April. Slot machines contributed $13.83 million, and table games accounted for $7.50 million of the total revenue. The venue secured its casino license in November 2022 and commenced operations on January 23, 2023.
Virginia’s Focus on Problem Gambling Support
Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin signed Senate Bill 836 into law, creating the Virginia Problem Gambling Treatment and Support Advisory Committee. This legislation, effective from July 1, aims to prevent gambling addiction and provide resources to individuals grappling with gambling-related issues.
Collaboration with NeoPollard Interactive (NPi)
The Virginia Lottery has made significant strides in its iLottery program. Virginia has become the first U.S. state lottery to operate a fully cloud-based iLottery program, in partnership with NeoPollard Interactive (NPi). The cloud-based system utilizes Neo-based technologies, including NeoDraw, NeoSphere, and NeoPlay. This transition to cloud hosting is expected to enhance the efficiency of the iLottery program’s operation and ongoing maintenance. NPi has been powering the iLottery program since its inception in 2016 when it first introduced eSubscriptions.
