In March, Mississippi’s 25 non-tribal casinos collectively amassed $235.1 million in revenue from poker, slots, and table games. This represented a notable increase of 13.8% compared to February’s revenue of $206.7 million. Furthermore, in a year-on-year comparison, revenue demonstrated a steady growth trajectory, rising by 3% from March 2023.
Regional Breakdown:
The MGC’s report divides Mississippi’s casino revenue into three distinct regions: Central, Coastal, and Northern. The Coastal region emerged as the frontrunner, contributing $148.9 million to the overall revenue pool. Following closely, the Northern region reported $53.7 million, while the Central region recorded $32.4 million in revenue.
Sports Betting Activity:
March witnessed a dynamic landscape in sports betting across Mississippi. Bettors engaged with enthusiasm, wagering a total of $44.5 million on various sporting events. While this figure marked a slight decline of 4.7% compared to March 2023, it represented a substantial increase of 41% from February’s activity. Despite the slight downturn in total bets, revenue from sports betting remained resilient, reaching $3.4 million. This represented a decline of 32% from March 2023 but showcased a robust 47% increase from February.
Regional Distribution of Sports Betting Revenue:
The Coastal casinos emerged as the primary hub for sports betting, with a total of $30.2 million in bets and $1.9 million in revenue. Meanwhile, the Central casinos recorded $8.9 million in bets, generating $1 million in sports betting revenue. In the Northern region, players contributed $5.5 million in bets, resulting in sports betting revenue of $468,058.
