The Allwyn Group has received clearance from the Gambling Commission for its acquisition of Camelot UK Lotteries Limited from the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board. The acquisition, which was agreed upon in November 2022, is a significant step towards Allwyn becoming the operator of The National Lottery under the Fourth Licence, effective from February 2024. It is expected that Sir Keith Mills will be appointed as the new Chair of the Board, pending regulatory approvals.
