Century Casinos has named Eric Rose as the new Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Nugget Casino Resort in Sparks, Nevada. This strategic appointment comes as the resort navigates through a period of financial adjustments and operational changes. Rose, who has a proven track record in casino management, is expected to lead the Nugget towards future growth and success.

Eric Rose steps into this pivotal role with extensive experience in the casino industry. Prior to this position, he served as the Vice President of Operations in Colorado and General Manager of Century Casino Cripple Creek. His career began in Stateline, Nevada, and he played a key role in Century’s acquisition of three properties from Caesars Entertainment in 2019. Challenges and Strategic Adjustments
The Nugget Casino Resort has faced a challenging first half of the year, characterized by lower-than-expected revenue. In response to these challenges, the resort has implemented a series of right-sizing and cost-cutting initiatives. These efforts are designed to improve financial performance and enhance operational efficiency. The strategic adjustments include both financial and operational measures aimed at stabilizing the property’s performance.
Recent Upgrades and Investments
To revitalize the Nugget Casino Resort and attract more guests, significant upgrades have been made to the property. Recent investments include the addition of over 120 new slot machines, the creation of a high-limit room, and refurbishments of two restaurants. Additionally, the resort has undergone a repaint of the exterior, updates to both exterior and interior signage, and the installation of new display packages. These enhancements are intended to elevate the guest experience and position the Nugget as a competitive destination in the market.
Leadership Insights
In light of these changes, Erwin Haitzmann and Peter Hoetzinger, Co-Chief Executive Officers of Century Casinos, shared their perspectives on the situation. They remarked, “We encountered a challenging first half of the year at the Nugget with lower-than-expected revenue. The Nugget has undergone right-sizing and cost-cutting initiatives. The property has also been further upgraded with investments in more than 120 new slot machines, a high-limit room, refreshes of two restaurants, a repaint of the exterior, exterior and interior signage, and display packages. With the appointment of Eric Rose to the top leadership role, we are finalizing the transition, setting the Nugget up for future success.”
