BoyleSports has secured a five-year partnership with Limerick Racecourse, officially becoming the title sponsor of the Munster National. This agreement, extending through 2028, underscores BoyleSports’ commitment to Irish racing and marks a significant milestone for both the sponsor and the racecourse.
A Prestigious Addition to the Racing Calendar
The Munster National, which has been a fixture since its debut in 2001, is renowned for attracting top-class staying chasers. The two-day festival, held each October, boasts a substantial prize fund of €100,000 (approximately $110,440), highlighting its significance in the Irish racing scene. Over the years, the Munster National has seen exceptional performances, including notable winners like Tiger Roll. This prestigious race not only offers a substantial financial reward but also serves as an important preparatory event for the BoyleSports Irish Grand National, held annually in April.
BoyleSports’ Commitment to Supporting Irish Racing
Sharon McHugh, Head of PR & Sponsorship at BoyleSports, expressed her enthusiasm about the new partnership. “We are delighted to partner with Limerick Racecourse and continue our commitment to supporting Irish racing,” McHugh stated. She highlighted the Munster National’s role as a key race leading up to the BoyleSports Irish Grand National, emphasizing its importance in the racing calendar. This partnership reaffirms BoyleSports’ ongoing support for the sport and its dedication to fostering the growth of high-profile racing events.
Introducing a Charitable Initiative
In addition to the sponsorship, a charitable dimension has been added through a new sweepstake initiative spearheaded by JP and Noreen McManus and their family. This initiative aims to benefit local charities in the Mid-West region. Local organizations have the opportunity to participate by entering the sweepstake via Limerick Racecourse’s website or through email. The charity linked with the winning horse will receive a €20,000 donation, while second and third-place charities will be awarded €3,000 and €2,000 respectively. Additionally, all other participating charities will receive €1,000 each. This initiative not only supports local causes but also enhances the profile of the BoyleSports Munster National, integrating community support with the excitement of the race.
Enhancing the Munster National Experience
Michael Lynch, CEO of Limerick Racecourse, expressed his excitement about the partnership, noting the extensive support BoyleSports has provided to Irish racing. “As sponsor of the Irish Grand National and many Irish race meetings, BoyleSports is a huge supporter of Irish racing,” Lynch said. He emphasized that the partnership would help build upon the success of Limerick Races, with plans to introduce additional elements and entertainment to make each day of the Munster National weekend a comprehensive and enjoyable experience for attendees.
Looking Forward: The Future of the Munster National
The new partnership between BoyleSports and Limerick Racecourse promises an exciting future for the Munster National. With a significant financial investment, a meaningful charitable initiative, and plans to enhance the event experience, the Munster National is set to continue its legacy as a premier event in the Irish racing calendar. As the event approaches, both racing fans and community members can anticipate a festival that combines thrilling competition with impactful community support, reflecting the broader benefits of supporting Irish racing and local causes.
