BetMGM, a prominent player in the gambling industry, has entered into a groundbreaking three-year advertising deal with NJ Transit, New Jersey’s public transportation system. The partnership was officially announced at the Secaucus Junction train station, marking a new era of collaboration between the gaming giant and the state’s transport infrastructure. The $3 million deal grants BetMGM naming rights on the Meadowlands Rail Line and allows the company to display digital and print advertisements at Secaucus Junction, an unprecedented move for NJT.
BetMGM’s Remarkable Growth:
From humble beginnings in 2019 with a team of only 40 employees, BetMGM has experienced extraordinary growth, expanding its workforce to nearly 1,000 people in New Jersey. Many employees rely on NJ Transit for their daily commute, making the partnership even more significant. Matthew Prevost, the Chief Revenue Officer of BetMGM, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to be a partner and acknowledged the essential role played by NJ Transit in their success.
NJ Transit’s Strategic Decision:
NJ Transit CEO and President, Kevin Corbett, highlighted the importance of utilizing assets effectively and discreetly to keep fares down and demonstrate proper management. The partnership with BetMGM is a step towards achieving this goal. By integrating advertising opportunities throughout the transit system, NJT aims to not only benefit from the financial aspect of the deal but also to create a seamless experience for riders and taxpayers.
BetMGM’s New Advertising Campaign:
Alongside the NJ Transit deal, BetMGM launched an innovative advertising campaign across various social media platforms. Aptly named “It’s On,” the campaign features a diverse cast of actors and athletes who serve as ambassadors for the sportsbook. The launch took place during a Thursday Night Football NFL slot, garnering significant attention and emphasizing the brand’s strong presence in the sports betting arena.
BetMGM’s Retail Sportsbook at State Farm Stadium:
In addition to its advertising efforts, BetMGM recently made headlines with the opening of its retail sportsbook at State Farm Stadium, the home of the Arizona Cardinals. Notably, this marks the first sportsbook located within a National Football League (NFL) stadium. Covering a sprawling 17,000 square feet, the sportsbook offers over 25 betting kiosks, dining options, concert-hosting facilities, and an impressive 265-square-foot video wall, complemented by 38 televisions. The venue operates on both event and non-event days, creating a vibrant hub for sports enthusiasts.
Surge in New Jersey’s Gambling Revenue:
The partnership with BetMGM comes at a time when New Jersey’s gambling industry is experiencing remarkable growth. According to the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement’s report, the state’s casinos, horse tracks offering sports betting, and online partners collectively reported $480.7 million in gaming revenue for July, a substantial 6.7% increase compared to the same period in the previous year ($450.6 million). The nine Atlantic City casino hotel properties, in particular, saw an 8% rise in casino wins, reaching $299 million in July 2023 compared to $276.9 million in July 2021. The year-to-date total casino win also surged to $1.61 billion, showing a remarkable 16% increase from the previous year’s $1.39 billion.
The advertising partnership between BetMGM and NJ Transit marks a pivotal moment for both industries, combining the strengths of gaming and public transportation in a unique collaboration. BetMGM’s exponential growth and its innovative approach to advertising have set the stage for continued success in the competitive gambling market. Simultaneously, NJ Transit’s strategic decision to leverage its assets for advertising purposes showcases effective management and a commitment to enhancing the overall experience for commuters. Moreover, the surge in New Jersey’s gambling revenue demonstrates the state’s thriving gaming industry, further solidifying its position as a major player in the gambling landscape. As the partnership unfolds, the future holds exciting opportunities for both BetMGM and NJ Transit, benefiting not only the companies involved but also the millions of commuters and bettors in New Jersey and beyond.
