In a proactive move that aligns with National Problem Gambling Awareness Month, Caesars Entertainment has unveiled two pivotal responsible gaming policies. These measures underscore the company’s commitment to fostering responsible gaming practices and creating a safer environment for patrons. By expanding its self-exclusion program and implementing an enhanced 21+ policy, Caesars Entertainment sets a noteworthy example of corporate social responsibility within the gaming industry.
Comprehensive Self-Exclusion Policy:
To enhance responsible gaming practices, Caesars Entertainment is implementing a universal exclusion policy by the end of March. This policy, encompassing all of Caesars Entertainment’s offerings—ranging from Caesars Sportsbook to brick-and-mortar facilities and igaming—represents a significant stride towards ensuring player welfare. Patrons currently on state-sponsored self-exclusion lists within Caesars-operated jurisdictions will be automatically added to the universal exclusion list. Moreover, individuals can voluntarily join the list to revoke their gaming privileges across various platforms, including in-person and online play, check cashing, credit extension, marketing, and more.
A Groundbreaking Capability:
Historically, Caesars Entertainment’s self-exclusion policy allowed players to request privileges to be denied for varying durations. This new initiative expands the capability and inclusivity of the self-exclusion option. Significantly, it now includes Caesars Sportsbook, covering both mobile and in-person betting exclusions. Jeffrey Hendricks, SVP and Assistant General Counsel for Regulatory and Compliance, commended the team’s efforts in bringing this comprehensive exclusion option to fruition. He expressed pride in the accomplishment and highlighted how the policy was designed to ensure responsible gaming for all patrons.
Recognition of Leadership:
Keith Whyte, Executive Director of the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG), lauded Caesars Entertainment’s commitment to responsible gaming. The partnership between NCPG and Caesars Entertainment has been pivotal in advancing responsible gambling advertising, Team Member training, and corporate social responsibility. The new universal exclusion policy, in particular, showcases Caesars Entertainment’s leadership in the responsible gaming sector. This initiative serves as an exemplary model that other entities within the gaming industry could potentially adopt.
Elevating Age Restrictions:
In addition to the expanded self-exclusion policy, Caesars Entertainment is fortifying its responsible gaming efforts by implementing an enhanced 21+ policy. Starting in the first half of the year, the company will restrict access to the Caesars Rewards database for individuals under the age of 21 in jurisdictions that permit the use of Caesars’ products by those under 21. Furthermore, Caesars Rewards accounts and various gaming options will be limited to individuals over the age of 21, in line with legal requirements.
Reiterating Commitment:
Anthony Carano, President & COO of Caesars Entertainment, emphasized the company’s unwavering commitment to responsible gaming. This commitment, evident since the launch of Project 21 in 1989, has propelled Caesars Entertainment to pioneer responsible gaming standards within the industry. Carano underscored the significance of establishing consistent age restriction standards, reflecting Caesars Entertainment’s dedication to guest well-being and the broader gaming industry.
Caesars Entertainment’s proactive initiatives in responsible gaming underscore the company’s commitment to safeguarding its patrons and fostering a responsible gaming environment. The expanded self-exclusion policy and the enhanced 21+ policy exemplify Caesars Entertainment’s dedication to corporate social responsibility and setting industry standards. As the company continues to advocate for responsible gaming, it not only cultivates a safer gaming environment but also elevates the broader conversation around responsible gambling practices within the gaming industry.
