La Marocaine des Jeux et des Sports (MDJS), the prominent lottery and sports betting operator in Morocco, has recently announced an international call for tenders to appoint a new operator for the management of the country’s lottery, sports betting, and other gaming activities.
MDJS Replaces Intralot as Operator:
In a significant move, MDJS intends to replace its current operator, Intralot, which has been powering the lottery, betting, and gaming offerings since 2010. The decision to seek a new provider marks a shift in MDJS’ strategy to enhance and revitalize its gaming operations.
Duration and Extension Option of the Management Contract:
The newly appointed provider will assume responsibilities starting from January 1, 2023, for an initial period of eight years. The contract also includes an option to extend for an additional two years, providing an opportunity for long-term collaboration and strategic planning.
Dividing the Request for Proposal into Two Lots:
MDJS has divided the request for proposal into two distinct lots to streamline the bidding process and address specific gaming segments. Lot one encompasses fixed-odds sports and pari-mutuel betting, including virtual events, while excluding horse and greyhound racing. Lot two covers lotteries, instant sports lotteries, electronic instant games, and raffles.
Bidding Process and Requirements:
Interested bidders can submit proposals for either or both lots by paying a MAD10,000 (£797/€955/$1,079) fee to obtain the bidding documents. The proposals must be submitted no later than 10 am on April 4. Additionally, bidders are required to submit a MAD3 million security deposit alongside their proposal, ensuring a serious commitment to the tender process.
New Era for MDJS: Embracing Change and Growth
With the decision to appoint a new operator, MDJS aims to introduce fresh perspectives and innovative strategies to propel the Moroccan gaming industry into a new era of growth and development.
Enhancing Sports Betting and Pari-Mutuel Opportunities
The first lot of the request for proposal focuses on improving the fixed-odds sports and pari-mutuel betting experience for MDJS customers. This presents an opportunity for bidders to showcase their expertise in optimizing these betting segments and leveraging virtual events to attract a wider audience.
Revolutionizing Lotteries and Instant Sports Lotteries
Lot two of the proposal offers potential operators the chance to revolutionize lotteries and instant sports lotteries in Morocco. This includes the introduction of electronic instant games and raffles, aiming to create an engaging and immersive gaming experience for players across the country.
The Selection Process: A Gateway to Partnership
The international call for tenders signifies the beginning of a rigorous selection process where MDJS will carefully evaluate and assess the proposals submitted by interested bidders. The decision to extend the contract by an additional two years reflects the intent to establish a long-term partnership with the chosen operator.
MDJS’ decision to seek a new operator for managing Morocco’s lottery, sports betting, and gaming activities heralds a new chapter in the country’s gaming industry. The division of the proposal into two lots allows for a targeted approach, enabling operators to showcase their expertise in specific gaming segments. As the selection process unfolds, the future operator will have a significant role in shaping the landscape of the Moroccan gaming industry, fueling growth and innovation for years to come.
