Connecticut Lottery Corporation Initiates Selection Process for New Sports Betting Partner

The Connecticut Lottery Corporation (CLC) has taken a significant step forward in its quest to find a new sports betting partner. Following the amicable conclusion of its partnership with Rush Street Gaming, the CLC has issued a Request For Proposals (RFP). This RFP marks the beginning of the rigorous selection process that will determine the CLC’s future sports betting collaborator.

The Quest for a Comprehensive Sports Betting Partner:

The CLC’s RFP aims to identify a comprehensive sports betting partner capable of offering both online and retail sports betting services in Connecticut.
Additionally, the selected partner will be responsible for delivering a new daily fantasy sports (DFS) platform to meet the growing demand in the state’s gaming landscape.

Duration and Potential Extension:

The winning proposal will enter into an initial eight-year agreement with the possibility of extending the partnership to 13 years.
This extended duration ensures that the selected partner has a long-term commitment to fostering Connecticut’s sports betting ecosystem.

Collaborative Transition and Data Migration:

The RFP places importance on a seamless transition, requiring the successful proposer to work collaboratively with the current operator to import all player data into its system.
A strategic messaging and marketing plan during the transition period is essential for ensuring a smooth shift from the existing system to the proposed one.

Comprehensive Proposal Requirements:

Bidders must submit proposals that encompass two years of detailed marketing plans.
The ability to continue the CLC’s retail sports betting operations, which will soon expand to 10 retail locations with self-service terminals, is a pivotal aspect of the proposal.

Bidding Timeline:

The bidding process officially commenced with immediate effect.
Meetings between CLC officials and prospective bidders will be held from April 17 to 21.
Requests for clarification must be submitted by April 24, with the CLC planning to provide written responses on a rolling basis by May 1.
The deadline for final submissions is set for May 19, allowing nearly two months for meticulous proposal review.
The CLC anticipates issuing a preliminary notice of award by June 14, marking a significant milestone in the selection process.

The issuance of the Request For Proposals by the Connecticut Lottery Corporation underscores the state’s commitment to enhancing its sports betting and DFS offerings. With a meticulous selection process, an extended partnership duration, and a focus on seamless transitions, the CLC is poised to identify a partner that will contribute significantly to Connecticut’s burgeoning gaming landscape. This move sets the stage for exciting developments in the state’s sports betting and DFS sectors in the coming years.
