Fanatics Betting and Gaming (FBG), a subsidiary of Fanatics Holdings, has successfully concluded its acquisition of PointsBet’s operations in New York and Wyoming following regulatory approvals. This milestone marks another significant step in FBG’s expansion within the United States. In the previous month, Fanatics finalized its acquisition of PointsBet USA in eight additional states, making substantial progress in its strategic move into the American sports betting market.
Expanded Footprint:
Fanatics entered into a $150 million agreement to acquire the US business of Australia’s PointsBet in May, setting the stage for a significant presence in the US sports betting industry. The deal initially encompassed eight states, where the acquisition has now been successfully completed: Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia.
Pending Approvals:
While these eight states have transitioned to operate under Fanatics Betting and Gaming, PointsBet continues its operations in additional states. PointsBet is currently active in Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, and Ohio, with the acquisition awaiting regulatory approvals. As each state integrates into Fanatics Betting and Gaming, customers will experience the rebranding of PointsBet to “PointsBet, a Fanatics Experience.”
Retail Expansion:
In tandem with its digital initiatives, Fanatics Betting and Gaming has expanded its presence in the retail sports betting market. A recent partnership with the Columbus Blue Jackets has led to the establishment of the Fanatics Sportsbook Columbus, a retail sportsbook situated at 401 North Front Street, just outside Nationwide Arena. Spanning over 5,000 square feet, this dynamic venue features four betting windows, 14 self-service betting kiosks provided by Suzohapp, a large LED Video Wall, and 20 TV monitors.
Ohio Sports Legends Inaugurate Venue:
The Fanatics Sportsbook Columbus was officially introduced with a preview event, where Ohio sports icons Ryan Shazier and RJ Umberger had the honor of placing the ceremonial first bet.
