Online gambling operator 888 has made its entry into the African market with the launch of its 888bet brand in Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, and Zambia through the joint venture 888Africa.
Established just six months ago, 888Africa aims to operate 888 brands in select regulated countries across Africa. Initially holding a minority stake in the venture, 888 has the option to increase its ownership and eventually acquire 100% of 888Africa.
The recent introduction of 888bet in Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, and Zambia marks 888Africa’s first foray into the African continent. Players in these countries will now have access to online sports betting, while those in Zambia will also be able to enjoy online casino games through 888casino.
The company has expressed its plans to expand into other African markets in the future, pending local licensing requirements.
