Survey Reveals Strong Support for New Las Vegas Ballpark, While Hard Rock Moves Forward with Renovations

In a recent survey conducted by the Mellman Group on behalf of Major League Baseball team the Athletics (A’s), an overwhelming two-thirds of Clark County voters expressed their support for the construction of a new ballpark in Las Vegas. The survey, encompassing 700 voters, was conducted from April 29 to May 5, providing valuable insights into the local community’s stance on the proposed stadium.

Overwhelming Support for the Ballpark

The survey results painted a positive picture for the Athletics’ plans, with nearly 74 percent of voters expressing their support for the proposed ballpark. This strong endorsement was consistent across all seven County Commission districts, where the least amount of support still exceeded 60 percent.

The new ballpark, designed with a capacity of 30,000, will serve as a versatile venue for A’s regular and postseason games, as well as host concerts and other special events.

A’s president Dave Kaval expressed his satisfaction with the poll results and the overall community support. He also emphasized the many benefits that Major League Baseball brings to the community, including job creation, economic and social impacts, and fostering civic pride.

Positive Remarks from Community Leaders

Leaders from various local organizations shared their enthusiasm for the A’s potential move to Las Vegas. Mary Beth Sewald, president and CEO of the Vegas Chamber, highlighted the excitement among Southern Nevadans about the prospect of welcoming the Athletics to Las Vegas. She underlined the significance of Major League Baseball’s presence in the city as a major step in its transformation into a global hub for professional sports.

Peter Guzman, president of the Latin Chamber of Commerce, also voiced his support for the Athletics’ arrival in Las Vegas. He emphasized the unifying power of professional sports in the community, boosting tourism, economic growth, and job creation. The Latin Chamber stands firmly behind the Athletics and the long-term economic benefits and job opportunities that a world-class Major League Baseball ballpark can bring.

Hard Rock’s Transformation Plans

In a separate development, Clark County Commissioners have granted permits and designs submitted by Hard Rock International for the transformation of the current Mirage volcano site. Hard Rock International is set to commence its renovation work to construct a distinctive guitar-shaped hotel tower in 2024.

The existing tower at the Mirage will remain on the property. However, Hard Rock has ambitious plans for a 660-foot-tall guitar-shaped tower, which will include 600 suites. The renovation is aimed at reimagining every aspect of the resort, making it a symbol of innovation and excellence.

The strong community support for the new ballpark in Las Vegas, along with the exciting renovations planned by Hard Rock International, underscores the city’s commitment to growth, development, and the continuous enhancement of its entertainment offerings.
