Scientific Games, a prominent player in the lottery technology sector, has announced a major initiative to enhance the German lottery landscape. The company is set to modernize Lotto Rheinland-Pfalz’s terminals with cutting-edge technology, aiming to revolutionize both retail and digital lottery experiences.
A Modernization Leap: New Terminals and Software
Beginning in 2025, Scientific Games will implement the advanced Contour.v terminals at Lotto Rheinland-Pfalz. These state-of-the-art devices feature camera-based technology that bridges the gap between retail and digital lottery sales. The terminals are designed to provide a seamless integration between physical retail operations and digital platforms, offering a unified experience for players.
Alongside the terminals, Lotto Rheinland-Pfalz will benefit from the SYMPHONY Edge terminal software and management system. This comprehensive suite will streamline operations, enhance management capabilities, and support efficient terminal performance.
Contractual Agreement and Training
This significant technological upgrade is part of a new five-year contract between Scientific Games and Lotto Rheinland-Pfalz, with an option for three additional years. As part of this agreement, Lotto Rheinland-Pfalz retailers will also receive specialized training to ensure they are well-equipped to handle the new technology.
The move underscores a broader trend in the lottery industry, where modernization and digital integration are becoming increasingly crucial. Scientific Games has already introduced similar technologies to three other German state lotteries, demonstrating their commitment to enhancing the lottery experience across the region.
Statements from Key Figures
Jürgen Häfner, Managing Director of Lotto Rheinland-Pfalz, expressed his enthusiasm for the project: “With both player and retailer in mind, we are investing further in our well-established retailer network to enhance the connection between our digital and retail sales channels. This new technology project with Scientific Games aligns with our clear focus on player-oriented enhancements that take the purchasing experience with Lotto Rheinland-Pfalz to the next level.”
Matthias Müller, VP of Sales & Marketing at Scientific Games, also shared his perspective: “Scientific Games welcomes Lotto Rheinland-Pfalz to the growing number of lotteries moving to modern retail technology. Our goal is to connect retail and digital channels seamlessly, offering players a smooth, convenient purchasing experience.”
Broader Industry Context
In addition to this major development in the lottery sector, FeedConstruct has extended its partnership with the German Handball Bundesliga Women (HBF). This extension secures exclusive global betting streaming rights for the league’s competitions, reflecting a growing trend towards digital engagement and monetization in sports.
The integration of advanced technologies and strategic partnerships highlights a dynamic shift in how lotteries and sports leagues are adapting to modern consumer demands. As these industries evolve, the focus remains on enhancing user experience and expanding digital capabilities.
