Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI) has announced a renaming of its forthcoming casino development in Terre Haute, Indiana. The project, previously known as “The Queen of Terre Haute,” has been rebranded as the “Terre Haute Casino Resort.” This decision aligns with CDI’s effort to streamline its branding approach for the project, while still paying homage to the city’s heritage. The revised name reflects CDI’s commitment to creating a dynamic and culturally relevant casino experience.
A Shift in Branding Strategy:
The strategic move to simplify the name by removing the word “queen” underscores CDI’s desire for a more cohesive and focused branding strategy. Despite the name change, CDI ensures that the essence of “queen” will still be evident in the casino’s logo. The casino’s design will continue to emphasize Terre Haute’s rich history and cultural significance, with a particular emphasis on incorporating local elements into various aspects of the resort’s amenities.
Reflecting Terre Haute’s Identity:
The Terre Haute Casino Resort remains a symbol of CDI’s commitment to highlighting the city’s distinct character and heritage. The establishment’s culinary offerings and dining experiences will serve as vehicles for referencing Terre Haute’s history and culture in unique and recognizable ways. This approach aims to create an immersive and authentic environment that resonates with both visitors and the local community.
Anticipated Features of the Casino Resort:
Currently under construction in Vigo County, Indiana, the Terre Haute Casino Resort is projected to open its doors in March 2024. Spanning 400,000 square feet, the venue will encompass a diverse range of amenities. These include a gaming space of 56,000 square feet housing 1,000 slots and approximately 50 table games. Additionally, the resort will offer a 125-room hotel and an array of nine food and beverage venues.
Recent Design Updates:
CDI’s ongoing dedication to optimizing the resort’s offerings is evident in its recent design adjustments. Notably, a rooftop pool has been replaced with a larger pool located in a separate ground-level building. Enhancements have also been made to the casino’s Crossroad Sports Bar, featuring expanded screens and dual viewing areas. A novel outdoor gaming area equipped with slot machines will combine entertainment with fresh air circulation, catering to guests seeking an outdoor-like experience.
Positive Economic Impact:
The casino project is anticipated to generate substantial economic benefits for the region. With estimated costs of $290 million, the development is set to create 500 job opportunities and yield an annual economic impact of $190 million. CDI’s groundbreaking in June marked the beginning of an ambitious timeline, with structures expected to be erected by March 2023, followed by exterior and interior work in subsequent stages.
The rebranding of the Terre Haute Casino Resort underscores CDI’s commitment to delivering an immersive, culturally enriching, and entertaining experience for visitors. By embracing the city’s history, culture, and community, the renamed establishment is poised to become a dynamic hub of entertainment, gaming, and hospitality. As the project progresses towards its anticipated opening, CDI’s dedication to creating a memorable and authentic casino resort experience remains unwavering.
