Fighting malnutrition and poverty has always been a top priority for the FBM Foundation. In their mission to make a positive impact, they joined forces with the Pangarap Foundation to organize the “Feeding our future Champions!” initiative. This collaborative effort took place on November 30th at the Paliparan Dasmariñas Cavite Facility, addressing the critical issue of malnutrition in the region.
The Battle Against Poverty in Dasmariñas, Philippines:
Dasmariñas, with a population exceeding 700,000, stands as the largest city in Cavite, Philippines, in terms of both area and population. Rapid urbanization over the years, coupled with the economic setbacks caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, has left numerous communities grappling with poverty and a lack of access to essential resources, particularly in the realm of education.
Vítor Francisco, Director of FBM Foundation, emphasized the significance of implementing social, economic, and educational measures in the city’s most impoverished barangays. These measures are pivotal not only for the region’s development but also for empowering the young population living in areas with high poverty rates.
Feeding our Future Champions:
The Feeding Program conducted in Dasmariñas on November 30th had a singular objective: to ensure underprivileged children have access to adequate nutrition and food security. Collaborating with the beloved Filipino restaurant, Jollibee, children were treated to wholesome dishes, including the renowned Chicken Joy, spaghetti, yum burgers, and fresh fruits.
Furthermore, 15 dedicated volunteers from the FBM Foundation distributed essential grocery items to the Pangarap Foundation. These items included rice, eggs, lentils, powdered milk, cheesecake, rebisco sandwiches, orange juice, and vitamins. The program also extended to providing condiments and cooking essentials such as cooking oil, vinegar, soy sauce, fish sauce, catsup, oyster sauce, salt, sugar, and black pepper. Additionally, the volunteers supplied cleaning materials, ensuring the maintenance of hygiene and sanitation in food preparation areas, thereby preventing environmental diseases among the children beneficiaries.
The program’s success hinged on the concerted effort of these 15 volunteers and the collaboration between FBM Foundation and Pangarap Foundation. Amidst practical activities and the joyful interaction of 110 children, this initiative aimed to make a lasting impact on the lives of those facing the hardships of poverty and malnutrition.
The “Feeding our future Champions!” initiative serves as a testament to the unwavering commitment of organizations like FBM Foundation and Pangarap Foundation in their fight against malnutrition and poverty in the Philippines. By addressing the immediate needs of vulnerable children and families, these initiatives bring hope and nourishment to those who need it most.
