Las Vegas Sands sees smart table technology as an important tool for understanding casino players and improving table game performance. The company has been using the systems across its Macau properties as operators look for better data from mass gaming floors.

Smart tables can track play more accurately than manual ratings. They use technology such as RFID chips and automated table systems to capture betting activity, game pace and player behaviour.

Technology gives clearer table data

Sands executives see smart tables as a way to better understand table game performance. The systems can help operators understand average bets, side-bet use, session behaviour and hold trends.

That information is especially important in baccarat-heavy markets such as Macau and Singapore. Small changes in player mix, side bets and table pace can affect hold percentage and casino revenue.

The technology also helps casinos reduce reliance on manual tracking by staff. More automated data can support marketing decisions, player rewards and operational planning.

Macau rollout supports mass gaming

Sands China has been rolling out smart table systems across its Macau casino floors. Angel Group’s smart table product has been deployed across all baccarat tables in Sands China’s mass-market areas, covering more than 1,100 tables.

Macau’s casino operators have been adding RFID and smart table systems as the market becomes more focused on mass and premium mass play. The technology gives operators more detail on table activity after the decline of the old junket-led VIP model.

For Sands, the data can help show which customers are most valuable and which table formats perform better. It can also support more accurate comp decisions for players.

Marina Bay Sands also upgrades tables

Marina Bay Sands has also been moving toward a full smart table rollout in Singapore. The property has aimed to fit all gaming tables with smart table technology by the end of 2025.

The Singapore rollout supports Sands’ focus on premium tourism, high-value gaming and better casino data. Smart tables can support security, game protection and customer analytics in a market with strict regulatory controls.

RFID chips support smart table tracking

Smart table systems often rely on RFID-enabled casino chips and table sensors. Those tools help casinos record wagers, identify chip movement and match table activity with player accounts more accurately.

The technology can also support game protection by flagging unusual chip movement or betting patterns. For large casino floors, that makes smart tables useful for both player analysis and operational control.
