CoinPoker has launched a “100% rakeback” campaign for March in an attempt to attract more players to its crypto-based poker site. Their promotion comes amid a site-wide software update and the beginning of some of the largest online poker series, such as SCOOP on PokerStars and the GGPoker WSOP Online Super Circuit.
However, many players in the online poker community have criticized CoinPoker for what they describe as a misleading advertising campaign, as terms and conditions apply to the 100% rakeback in the second half of the month. Others have directed their anger at CoinPoker, as they enacted 25-100% rake increases across the board in their cash games at the beginning of April.
100% rakeback campaign
Site ambassadors Patrick Leonard and Benjamin ‘bencb’ Rolle have been touting this promotion over the last week as groundbreaking. Rolle has claimed that the promotion is even better than the old PokerStars SuperNova Elite rewards, often viewed as the best rakeback program in history, only available to players who grinded about 2.5 million cash game hands a year.
Rolle said in a promo video: “For the very first time ever, you can basically experience Supernova Elite rewards instantly, and even bigger than the SuperNova Elite rewards back in the days.”
And the rewards are fantastic in “Stage 1”. From March 2nd to March 15th, CoinPoker is providing players with true 100% rakeback. According to their website, “Tournaments, All-In or Fold, Bomb Pot, and cash games all pay back 100% of their fees.” Players can collect and withdraw their rakeback daily.
However, “Stage 2” of their campaign from March 16th to March 31st sees the “100% rakeback” distributed differently. Instead of true 100% rakeback, cash game players will be treated to Splash pots and daily leaderboards. They clearly state that “during Stage 2, no individual daily rakeback credits will be issued” and “Players are not guaranteed to receive back 100% of their individually contributed rake during Stage 2.”
100% of tournament fees paid in the form of Promotional $ (P$). P$ cannot be withdrawn and must be played through at a 10-to-1 rate to turn the P$ into real money.
April rake increases
Though there was no official announcement from the site, it didn’t take the poker community long to figure out that CoinPoker is planning to increase its cash game rake up to 100%.
CoinPoker rake cap changes

Ambassador Patrick Leonard was adamant that there’s a new rewards system that’s coming that has yet to be announced that will lower the “effective rake”.
Software security concerns
There were widespread concerns about CoinPoker’s security in the first few days of the new software launch. Thomas Keeling, Creative Director of Club WPTGold and a partner of The Lodge Poker Club, shared a screenshot that alleged that CoinPoker’s raw source code was leaked.
However, nothing has been confirmed as of the time of writing, and it appears no players have been compromised.
Coinpoker made a statement on Tuesday, claiming there has never been a “threat to player data, funds, or backend infrastructure.”
Who represents CoinPoker?
CoinPoker has tried to build its online poker site for many years, mainly advertising nosebleed cash games between some of the online poker world’s best cash game players. This includes PR0DIGY (Owen Messere), Kayhan Mokri, Linus Loeliger, and Tony G.
CoinPoker has also hired big-name ambassadors include Patrick “Pads” Leonard, Mario Mosböck, Fernando “JNandez” Habegger, Benjamin ‘bencb’ Rolle, and Ryan Depaulo, while also patching up players making deep runs at major tournaments.
Though traffic has slightly increased, it remains far behind the likes of PokerStars, GGPoker, and ACR Poker. On Monday, an hour into the promotion, Mosböck tweeted out that there were just under 4,000 players on the site.
