On the Venetian High Stakes Cash Game stream, a huge pot broke out between Cherish Andrews and Phong “Turbo” Nguyen. When all was said and done, there was over $200,000 in the middle after one of the grossest runouts we’ve seen in some time.
A star-studded lineup
At the Venetian Las Vegas Spring Festival, a high-stakes, invite-only cash game saw six players bring $50,000 to play a $100/$200 cash game.
Those involved in the cash game were the aforementioned Turbo Nguyen and Cherish Andrews, a two-time GPI Female Player of the Year. Eric Wasserson, the overall winner of the annual Super High Roller Cash Game, Humboldt Mike, a regular in the high roller cash game scene, and Resorts World director Andrew “Ace” Pacheco were also in the six-player rotation.
Nik Airball, who was just on the receiving end of a successful $100,000 six-bet bluff from Kristen Foxen, was also on the felt.
A six-figure runout
Of course, as often is the case after the players warm up to one another, the stakes got much higher. A few hours into the Venetian stream, Cherish Andrews and Turbo Nguyen got themselves into one of the biggest pots of the evening.
Just two hours into the stream, Turbo and Andrews had been playing solid poker and had already more than doubled their initial starting stacks. The table was playing $100/$200 with a $200 big blind ante and a $400 straddle.
Action folded to Turbo on the button, who made it $1,000 with . Andrews picked up in the big blind and three-bet to $4,000. After Pacheco folded his $400 straddle, Turbo then four-bet to $12,000. Andrews, with a real decision on her hands, ended up making the call and opted to play postflop.
With $24,700 in the middle, the flop came , giving Turbo bottom pair and double backdoors, while Andrews had a powerful overpair and a 75% chance to win the hand. Turbo c-bet for $7,000 and Andrews called.
The turn brought the to give Turbo an unlikely two pair, giving him at 82% chance to win at showdown. Turbo, known for being an unconventional, hyper-aggressive player, bet another $27,000 into the $38,700 pot. Andrews made the call again.
With $92,700 in the middle and the effective stack-to-pot ratio (SPR) of 0.64, the river was the , giving Turbo an extremely unconventional full house. Turbo went all in for Andrews’ remaining stack of $59,300.
Andrews went into the tank for nearly a minute before eventually calling her extremely underrepped pocket jacks. Turbo immediately slammed over his full house, knowing it was the winner, drawing a big laugh from Nik Airball.
Cherish Andrews loses big
Andrews, a phenomenal player in her own right, eighth on the women’s all-time money list, had an awful session, losing $150,600 in less than four hours on the Venetian stream.
However, she wasn’t the biggest loser of the night, as a relatively unknown player, known as “Tiger”, dumped $253,200, notably losing a $225,800 flip with against Nik Airball’s . They ran in twice, with Airball hitting an ace on both boards.
Those two would be a part of the four players who finished the stream. Humboldt Mike enjoyed a great day of poker, earning $215,100 on the day. Nik Airball won $101,600 while Turbo would go home with a modest $44,600 profit.
Eric Wasserson sat down with $250,000 late into the game and never could get anything going, losing just short of $150,000, standing up just before the end of the stream.
Ace was a huge winner, cashing out for $315,200, a $265,200 profit, after leaving five hours into the six-hour Venetian stream.
