Caesars opens Alberta pre-registration ahead of market launch

Canadian tourists in Las Vegas to benefit from dollar parity in casinos

Caesars Entertainment has opened pre-registration in Alberta ahead of the province’s planned launch of a regulated online gambling market later in 2026. Alberta residents aged 21 and over can now sign up to receive updates before Caesars switches on its digital products in the province.

The move gives Caesars an early start in a market that is expected to draw many of the same major operators already active in Ontario. Alberta has not opened the market yet, but companies that are going through the process are already allowed to advertise and build a customer list before launch.

Caesars is bringing three brands into Alberta

Caesars says it plans to launch three products in Alberta: Caesars Palace Online Casino, Caesars Sportsbook & Casino, and Horseshoe Online Casino. The first two casino brands will offer slots, table games, and live dealer content, while Caesars Sportsbook & Casino will combine sportsbook and casino play in one app.

That gives the company more than one angle on day one. Instead of entering Alberta with a single app, Caesars is spreading its bet across a sportsbook-casino product and two separate casino brands, each aimed at a slightly different audience. Players can already download the apps, though Alberta will only appear as an option once the market officially opens.

Alberta wants operators ready before betting goes live

The province has been clear about why it is opening the market. Alberta says much of its online gambling activity already sits with unregulated operators, and its new framework is meant to pull that play into a legal system with provincial oversight. The government has put that grey-market share at about 70%.

Under the setup, Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis handles registration and regulation, while the Alberta iGaming Corporation signs operating agreements with approved companies. Operators can market and sign up players during the pre-launch period, but they cannot take deposits or bets until the province gives the green light.

Caesars is trying to be in position before the rush starts

That is what this pre-registration push is about. Caesars is not launching yet, but it is making sure its brands are in front of Alberta players before the market gets crowded. In a province likely to become Canada’s next big battleground for online casino and sportsbook operators, that early start could matter.

Caesars will still need the rest of Alberta’s process to play out before it can go live. But by opening signups now, it has made clear that it does not plan to arrive late.
