Nick Palma completes incredible online poker double

Nick Palma online double

Nick Palma, known to many as “Nicky P”, completed one of the most incredible 24-hour poker double the world has ever seen.

Palma took down the 1,110-entry, super reg-heavy $630 Sunday High Roller on ACR Poker, taking down $119,095.66 after a heads-up deal.

If that wasn’t enough, the American, who we assume is grinding WSOP Europe in Prague, took an ICM chop in the $150 GGMasters, which was a two-day tournament with a $1,000,000 guarantee. The freezeout, one of the biggest weekly tournaments in all of online poker, attracted 7,930 players, with 1,140 making the money and a $235 min cash.

Palma took an ever-so-slightly better piece before winning the title for a whopping $128,883, earning roughly $248,000 in cashes between just $780 worth of entries.

Who is Nick Palma?

Nick Palma is a native New Yorker and a proper poker grinder, with nearly 400 live tournament cashes and over $3.5 million in career live tournament earnings.

His biggest live cash came at the 2023 World Series of Poker, when he won $184,730 for a third-place finish in the $1,500 Freezeout. He nearly broke his high score last August, when he finished second in a 96-entry $10,000 8-Max event at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open (SHRPO), earning $173,300.

Nick Palma is on a bit of a long-awaited heater, winning his first WSOP bracelet in the October online WSOP series. He topped a 199-entry field in the Event #7: $2,000 Big PKO, winning $78,998.94, including bounties.

He certainly gets the respect he deserves from top pros, as he was drafted to Daniel Negreanu’s $25K fantasy team this past summer.

Nick Palma’s recent heated exchange with Mariano

Palma is also known for his strong takes, both on and off the felt, and made headlines around the poker world during his appearance on Hustler Casino Live in October.

While playing in a $25/$50 no-limit cash game, Palma got in a spat with extremely popular poker vlogger and HCL regular Mariano Grandoli, known colloquially as Mariano.

During the hand, that had a $50 big blind ante and a $100 straddle, Henry raised to $600 from the lojack with .

Palma three-bet to $2,200 in the cutoff with before Kevin called with from the small blind. Mariano cold four-bet to $8,000 with from the big blind with . After Henry folded, Palma five-bet to $17,200. Kevin made a nice fold before Mariano called, leaving himself just $30,350 behind with $37,550 already in the middle.

The flop came and Palma c-bet for $5,300. Mariano flicked in the call. The turn was the , and it went check-check. The completed the board, and Palma took his time before going all in. Mariano quickly folded.

The whole hand took just over six minutes, and immediately after folding, Mariano asked Palma, “Can we just go a little faster?” which prompted the exchange heard around the world.

Palma: “We’re playing a f***ing $60K pot.”

Mariano: “I know but we’re not going to get any hands if they go super slow. It’s all good.”

Palma: “You’re a joker?”

Mariano: “I’m not joking.”

Palma: “No, you’re a clown then because we’re playing a $60K pot. What are you talking about?”

Mariano: “You don’t have to listen to me. I’m just asking.”

Palma: “How about this, I’ll play poker with you every day, and I’ll destroy you. I’ll destroy him at poker any day. Especially heads-up, because then he has to play poker. Then I’ll just wipe the floor with him.”

Mariano: “Well then all the more reason to go faster. If you’re going to destroy me, let’s just speed that up. The faster we play, the more money you make. If you’re so much better than me, why not play a bit faster?”

Palma: “Dude it was a big hand, relax, I’ll play 20 seconds faster in the next $60K pot I play, okay brother? An average American salary. I’m a real nice guy but I’m a savage. He’s a clown.”

The poker world generally took Palma’s side in the exchange, but it turned into a hotly-contested online debate that lasted several days.
