World Cup scoring stars trigger major betting payouts

Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland helped bettors win big during the 2026 FIFA World Cup group stage. Each player scored at least two goals in their latest match.

Their goals came during Argentina, France and Norway’s second group matches. Bettors who combined all three players to score two or more goals collected payouts ranging from thousands of dollars to six-figure sums.

Haaland lands major parlay

A Hard Rock Bet customer turned a $1,578.94 wager into nearly $150,000 after Haaland scored his second goal against Senegal. The bettor needed Messi, Mbappé and Haaland to score two or more goals in their matches.

Caesars Sportsbook also reported a winning Arizona bet on the same three-player combination. A $1,000 bet paid $53,270 after all three players scored twice. The bet had long odds because it is hard to predict three players scoring twice in separate matches. Combining all three players increased the payout but made the bet harder to win.

Pikkit tracks $5.1 million in winnings

Betting-tracking platform Pikkit recorded about 5,300 successful bets on Messi, Mbappé and Haaland each scoring at least twice. The combined winnings from those bets reached about $5.1 million.

One widely shared betting slip risked $285 on the same three players. The bet carried odds of +8827 and paid $25,156.59 after Haaland completed the final leg.

Another bettor turned a $40 wager on the trio into $6,544. The scoring bets gained attention on social media as users shared winning tickets after Norway’s match against Senegal.

Goalscorer markets remain popular

Anytime scorer, first scorer and player goal total markets are among the main World Cup betting options. These bets are often offered alongside match winner, total goals and correct score markets.

Goalscorer parlays can produce large payouts because each player selection must win. A ticket fails if one player does not score or does not reach the selected goal total. The World Cup has also produced large single-match bets and prediction market positions. A Red Rock Resorts customer placed $777,000 on Argentina to beat Austria and made $361,395 in profit after Argentina won 2-0.

Golden Boot race adds more options

Messi, Mbappé, Haaland and Harry Kane are among the players involved in the early Golden Boot race. Their goal totals are shaping sportsbook markets for top scorer and match-by-match player props. The group stage still has several matches remaining before the Round of 32. Sportsbooks are continuing to offer scorer markets as teams complete their final group fixtures.
